Sharing Hope in the Face of Adversity — One Piece at a Time

An Introduction and a Bit of Technology that I Use to Save Money

Posted by Second Chance to Live on February 23, 2011

Hello my friend. My name is Craig and I am a brain injury survivor. My brain injury occurred in 1967 when I was 10 years old due to a motor vehicle accident. In the accident, I sustained a fractured left femur (thigh bone) and a fractured skull. I remained in a coma for 3 weeks with right frontal lobe damage, a severe brain bruise with brain stem involvement. I underwent brain and skull surgery.

Although I was not expected to be able to make it beyond high school academically, I went on to obtain my undergraduate degree (after 10 years and 4 different majors) and my graduate degree (after 2 graduate schools and 5 years). According to the results of a neuro psychological exam, I did so through sheer persistence and motivation. I share this with you to encourage you to not give up on your dreams.

One February 6, 2007 I created Second Chance to Live to share my experience strength and hope as an individual who has been living with a brain injury and an invisible disability for 43 years. I write articles for Second Chance to Live to encourage, motivate, empower and provide hope to anyone who may have been touched by trauma, abuse and adversity.

I want to share a bit of technology (relatively inexpensive) that I have been using now for over a little over a year. The technology is called Magic Jack. Magic Jack is a way to replace your land line or add another phone line and a way to save money. Magic Jackclick on Magic Jack to be taken to their web siteinitially costs $40 plus tax and can be purchased at Radio Shack, Target, Wal Mart or through Magic Jack’s website.

Magic Jack is match box size unit with a USB connector to be plugged into a USB port on your computer and port to connect the wire from your phone into the Magic Jack. Using Magic Jack allows you to make unlimited local and long distance calls through your computer — with in the United States and Canada — with out the stress of having to pay for those phone calls. The initial purchase is $40 plus tax which includes the 1st year of service. Each additional year is $19.95.

I have been using Magic Jack for over a year and am grateful that I no longer have to stress over having enough money to make local and long distance phone calls. All calls are included for $19.95 a year.

Here is my Contact page. Send comments and questions and I will respond to you.
